Sovereign Grace Bible Church Weekly

Upcoming Sermon Preparation for Family Worship

For this next week, our study we will continue to focus on the church.  We will seek to answer these questions:  How does the sufficiency of Scripture have impact upon the church?  Using Scripture's paradigm of precept, principle, and pattern, how is a Biblically functioning church formed?  Is there more than one right way to do discipleship, evangelism, fellowship, etc?  Please consider the following passages for your preparation - 2 Timothy 3, 1 Corinthians 12, 1 Peter 5.

Disciplining Questions:

How should a church help its members to do what they are suppose to?

(Same question as above) Specifically with fathers?  Specifically with mothers?
Specifically with children?  Specifically with singles?

Thoughtful Questions:

Does the church have the responsibility of filling in the gap where relationships of people and families within the church fail?

If the church takes on an obligation to shore up faulty relationships, what are the dangers?

Can the church reach all the various members without organized programs?

Memory Verse:

Psalm 1

1How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! 2But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers. 4The wicked are not so, But they are like chaff which the wind drives away. 5Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked will perish.
